UFC two-division champion Jon Jones is widely regarded as one of the absolute best fighters to ever step inside the octagon.

When recently asked who his favorite UFC fighter is, ”Bones” gave a somewhat unexpected answer.

”In the UFC, my favorite fighter right now, I hate to admit it, I hate to admit it, but I would say Israel Adesanya,” Jones recently said. ”Israel Adesanya, him and I are not friends but he’s probably the most entertaining guy in the organization right now. His whole story with [Alex] Pereira, that whole saga they had, it was probably the most entertaining thing I’ve seen out of the UFC in a while.”

“That fight’s too far gone”

The pair have gone back-and-forth on social media, and a few years back there was talk of a possible superfight.

“That fight’s too far gone. It’s too far gone,” Jones claimed. ”You saw when happened when Israel fought against Jan Blachowicz, he didn’t fair very well against a man bigger than him and I’m a lot bigger than Jan Blachowicz, I don’t think the fans would want to see that fight. They would quickly realise it was unfair competition.”

Adesanya responds to the praise from Jon Jones

Israel Adesanya seemed surprised by the unexpected praise but admitted that he has been a fan of Jon Jones since he saw him at UFC 94 back in 2009.

”We had beef, and for a few years it was like that… But real recognizes real, I’ll put it that way,” Adesanya said.
