A women’s bantamweight bout between Julija Stoliarenko and Jessica-Rose Clark opened up the UFC 276 early prelims. However, the fight barely got started before Stoliarenko finished her opponent with a tight armbar.
It just took her 42 seconds to win the fight – and snap Clark’s arm.
“To be able to do such a fast submission is not a surprise for myself, but to be able to do that in the UFC, that’s a different story,” Stoliarenko said at the post-fight presser. “If I get a submission, I’m going to snap it until the referee stops it. Of course, I don’t want to injure my opponents, but it’s up to them when to tap. If she’s not tapping, I’m going to do my work.”
However, Jessica-Rose Clark, who has two straight armbar losses, does not agree with Stoliarenko’s point of view.
“Well, that sucked,” Clark said in an Instagram video. “I just got back from the hospital. I am probably going to need surgery on my elbow. She did a really good job of continuing to armbar me after I tapped, but that’s fine. It is what it is.”
The win was Julija Stoliarenko’s first in the organization. In August 2020, she lost her UFC debut against Yana Kunitskaya, and she fell short against Julia Avila and Alexis Davis in her second and third bout.
