After Alex Pereira scored a crazy fifth-round comeback win over Israel Adesanya in the main-event at UFC 281, top ranked UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev immediately called out the new crowned champion.
On Instagram, “Borz” made a case for him to be challenging “Poatan” for the middleweight title at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro on January 21 next year.
“This guy did fight for the belt with a 6-1 record, let me smash him, I have a record 12-0 let’s go brother make it happen @danawhite in Brazil,” Chimaev wrote.
“I will be ready for anybody, I’ll fight anybody,” Pereira said
However, UFC president Dana White might want to give Adesanya an immediate rematch.
“I wouldn’t rule it out,” White said at the UFC 281 post-fight presser.
The UFC president also claimed that the promotion is currently trying to book a welterweight bout between former title challenger Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev. He could not give an update of time and place yet.
