The rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev just fought his toughest fight in the UFC when he stood toe to toe with Gilbert Burns for three rounds at UFC 273. Something that the Swede was more than happy to do.
”I’m happy, this thing I’ve been waiting for for a long time, I did ten fights, ten finishes, didn’t happen these things to me. Now I’m bloody, I’m tired, I feel little pain, I love this,” Chimaev said to Joe Rogan directly after the fight.
At the post-fight press conference ”Borz” reveals that he was not suprised by No. 2 ranked Burns skills or power during the fight, but feels like he could have done some things different.
”I was too excited to knock him out,” Chimaev said. ”From the first second to the last second I tried to finish him you know. Next time I’m going to work a little bit smarter.”
”It was wrong of me, my coach told me all the time ’Slow down and work more technical’. I just wanted to take his head of, like I always do.”

UFC president Dana White earlier said that No. 1 ranked Colby Covington might be Chimaevs next opponent. However, the Swede couldn’t care less about rankings or who they put in front of him next.
”I don’t care, I fight everybody,” Chimaev said. ”Who cares about that shit you know? Everyone is fighting each other and making money, you know, we fight for our families. I don’t care who I fight. I get money, I get my fifty G’s, I knock somebody out I’m happy”
