Khamzat Chimaev to undergo surgery, gives update on planned return

Undefeated middleweight contender Khamzat ”Borz” Chimaev will undergo surgery in the coming weeks. The UFC fighter announced the news on Instagram.
“I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks,” Chimaev said. “After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.”
Chimaev suffered a torn ligament in his right hand during the fight against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in October.

Khamzat wants to come back in April
Khamzat Chimaev is open to return to action for the massive UFC 300 next April.
“Tell Dana White (to) make that happen,” Chimaev said.
The contender is 7-0 in the UFC with five finishes. After defeating Usman at UFC 294 he was promised a middleweight title shot, however, the torn ligament forced him to sit on the sidelines while South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis will step up to challenge newly crowned champion Sean Strickland at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on January 20.
