MMA veteran Nate Diaz recently announced plans to launch his own MMA promotion named Real Fight Inc. In a press release, the 37-year-old wrote that he plans to apply for a promoter’s license to arrange events that include boxing, MMA and BJJ fights.
“Nathan Diaz will be applying for his promoter’s license in the coming weeks to form Real Fight, Inc., a new promotion that will focus on promoting combat sports shows, specifically boxing, MMA and BJJ. The new venture has no bearing on his status as a fighter, where he will continue to be very active. Real Fight, Inc. is his expansion into the business side of the sport where he has been a fixture for close to 20 years,” the statement read.
On Saturday, Nate Diaz will face rising star Khamzat Chimaev in a five-round welterweight fight at UFC 279. The fight will be the last of Diaz’s current UFC contract. The veteran comes into the fight with a record of 20-13, while ”Borz” is undefeated with a record of 11-0.
UFC 279 will take place in Las Vegas and will also feature Tony ”El Cucuy” Ferguson, Li Jingliang, Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez, among others.
