“I was trying to get this shit on the road, but they don’t want me out of contract and they’re keeping me in there and they’re holding me hostage,” Nate recently said on The MMA Hour. “And I want out. That’s my main objective here.”
However, ESPN’s Marc Raimondi recently reported that Nate Diaz contract has an expiration date, potentially before November. According to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani the exact expiration date is October 19. If the Stockton fighter doesn’t compete inside the Octagon before October 19, he will be released by the UFC.
Nate Diaz fought his last fight against welterweight contender Leon Edwards on UFC 263 last summer. Since then, the Stockton fighter claims he’s been up for fighting a lot of top names in both welterweight and lightweight.
“I’ve been asking for fights since whenever,” Diaz said on The MMA Hour. “I asked for Luque, Tony Ferguson, four or five people and there was no go on their side.”
And there is no lack of top fighters who want’s to test themselves against Nate Diaz. Welterweight’s Bryan Barberena and Kevin Holland recently called him out, and lightweight contenders Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier want’s to face him next as well.
