UFC 293 just took place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, and had a middleweight title bout serving as the headliner.
In perhaps the biggest upset in UFC history, Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya over five rounds to win the promotion’s middleweight title.
The American pressured from the start and walked Adesanya down for 25 minutes, and was even close to finishing the fight in the first round as he floored his opponent with a heavy right hand and poured on punches against the cage.
After five rounds of action, the judges had Strickland winning the fight via unanimous decision with 49-46 on the scorecards.
“Am I fucking dreaming?” Strickland said in the post-fight interview.
“Never in a million years would I thought I’d be here. Izzy’s a bad motherfucker. He’s beat the majority of my friends and even I was kind of doubting myself at times.”
“I worked my ass off. I give up so many brain cells to the MMA gods everyday. This is the first time I’m at a loss for words.”

The Swede started with pressure and landed hard leg kicks but Pedro came back with leg kicks of his own. Two minutes into the round Pedro landed heavy right hands that dropped Turkalj and the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
