The heated altercation between rising star Khamzat Chimaev and middleweight contender Paulo Costa has almost got as much attention as the Swedes upcoming fight against veteran Nate Diaz during the fight week.
At the UFC 279 media day, Chimaev commented on the recent altercation with the Brazilian heavy-hitter.
”He was talking shit about me. I never talked about that guy, maybe once or something. He wants to be famous now,” Chimaev said. “Israel fucked his ass. So what? All the world saw that shit. He has to go back and do something easy.”

Khamzat sees no reason to take the fight against Costa
Chimaev didn’t seem very appealed by the thought of stepping into the octagon against the top ranked middleweight and dismissed the idea in front of the reporters.
“Why?” Khamzat said. “I don’t fight with that kind of guys. Somebody already fucked him up, you know, in the ass.”
However, the Swede is open for a move up to middleweight in the future. Maybe sooner than later if the UFC will book a third fight between welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman next.
