An injury has forced welterweight veteran Robbie Lawler to withdraw from his fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio, which was scheduled to take place on the main card of UFC 282 this Saturday.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

The former welterweight champion Lawler last fought at UFC 276 in July, where he was defeated by the tough fan favorite Bryan Barberena via TKO.

Ponzinibbio will face Alex Morono at UFC 282

However, to the rescue comes Alex Morono, who rides a four-fight winning streak that includes names like Donald Cerrone and Mickey Gall.

The 32-year-old American will step in to fight Ponzinibbio at catchweight (180 pounds). Morono comes from a unanimous decision against Matthew Semelsberger at UFC 277 in July.

The new matchup was first reported by The MMA Underground, and later confirmed by several sources.
