An injury has forced welterweight veteran Robbie Lawler to withdraw from his fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio, which was scheduled to take place on the main card of UFC 282 this Saturday.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
Robbie Lawler is out of his fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio this Saturday due to undisclosed injury, multiple sources tell ESPN. UFC is currently working on a potential replacement.
However, to the rescue comes Alex Morono, who rides a four-fight winning streak that includes names like Donald Cerrone and Mickey Gall.
The 32-year-old American will step in to fight Ponzinibbio at catchweight (180 pounds). Morono comes from a unanimous decision against Matthew Semelsberger at UFC 277 in July.
The new matchup was first reported by The MMA Underground, and later confirmed by several sources.
