On Saturday September 9, UFC returns to Sydney, Australia, with a middleweight title bout as a headliner.

Two-time UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya returns to action to defend his title against No. 5-ranked contender Sean Strickland. Adesanya won back his title at UFC 287 in April and

“I’ve beat all the top five, some of them twice, so you can’t punish us for being great,” Adesanya said about the fight.

In the co-main event, top ranked heavyweights Tai Tuivasa and Alexander Volkov will clash in a three-rounder.

Sweden’s Anton Turkalj returns

The main card also features Swedish light heavyweight Anton Turkalj who returns for his third fight in the promotion. Across him in the cage he will find the experienced hometown hero Tyson Pedro.

The Swede has back-to-back losses in the octagon and is in big need of a win. Pedro has nine fights in the UFC and comes from a loss against Modestas Bukauskas. Turkalj will be the Australian fighter’s second Swedish opponent, as he lost to Ilir Latifi back in 2017.
