The medical suspensions for this weekend’s UFC on ESPN 50 have just been revealed and unfortunately things aren’t looking good for main event winner Cory Sandhagen.

The main event saw Sandhagen face Rob Font – who was stepping in for an injured Umar Nurmagomedov. Sandhagens wrestling was on full display and he took Font down almost at will to secure a clear-cut unanimous decision. The crowd, however, did not enjoy the grappling-heavy performance and booed throughout much of the fight.

Sandhagen later revealed on social media that he tore his tricep in the very first round, rending his striking much less effective.

“Fully torn tricep in Round 1,” Sandhagen revealed on Instagram. “Wasn’t able to punch or elbow with that arm without pain and it feeling like shit. Did what I had to do to win that night.

“Surgery this week — back soon.”

Now that the medical suspensions have dropped Sandhagen will (prematurely) be out for a minimum of 180 but can be cleared for competition earlier via the approval of a physician. Gavin TUcker and Ode Osbourne were also handed lengthy suspensions for 180 days each.
