Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov defeated former UFC contender Corey Anderson grand prix final at Bellator 288 last night. In his third title defence he got the win via a unanimous decision, with 48–47, 49–46 and 49–46 on the scorecards.

Nemkov expected to defend his belt at Bellator 290 in February against former UFC middleweight contender Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero.

 

New champion Nurmagomedov still undefeated

In the co-main event of Bellator 288 Usman Nurmagomedov made history as he became the first Bellator champion from Dagestan.

After dominating five rounds, he won the lightweight title from Patricky Freire with 50-45, 50-44 and 50-44 on the judges’ scorecards.

“For me, this is so important,” Nurmagomedov said in the post-fight interview.
