Former ONE heavyweight champion and UFC fighter Brandon Vera has not been lazy since he retired from MMA last year.
The 45-year-old fighter is now an actor and his latest performance on the screen, Day Zero, was digitally released yesterday.
In the zombie infested movie, a former soldier (played by Vera) is released from prison realizing that the world has been overrun by the living dead.
“When Ninong DonDon Monteverde asked me what my dream movie would be, “A Zombie action film” was my answer before I even given it a full second of thought. I guess it’s been a subconscious dream of mine,” Vera said about the movie.
Besides Brandon Vera, the horror film stars actors like Pepe Herrera, MJ Lastimosa, Joey Marquez, and Ricci Rivero.
Fought the absolute best in UFC
Brandon Vera competed as a professional MMA fighter between 2002 and 2022 and fought in promotions like ONE Championship, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and UFC.
He made his UFC debut back in 2005 and tested himself against MMA royalty like Frank Mir, Tim Sylvia, Fabrício Werdum, Randy Couture and Jon Jones.
In December 2015, Vera won the ONE Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Paul Cheng in just 26 seconds.
He then defended the belt twice, against, with two first-rounds stoppage wins against Hideki Sekine and Mauro Cerilli, before losing to Aung La Nsang in October 2019.
