According to ESPN, Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against Jermall Charlo.
The fight is expected to go down on Saturday September 16 on Grito de Dolores (Mexico’s Independence Day).
The news of the matchup was first reported by ESPN.

The fight will be the Mexican superstar’s return after defeating John Ryder in May to retain his super middleweight titles.
The fight was Canelo’s first in his native Mexico in over a decade and therefore billed “The King is coming home”.
Jermall Charlo has held world titles in two weight classes, including the WBC middleweight title since 2019 and previously the IBF light middleweight title between 2015 to 2017.
The 33-year-old American has a flawless pro record with 33 wins and no losses and last competed on June 19, 2021.
The Mexican boxer has agreed to a new three-fight deal with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC).
A while back, it was reported that Swedish boxing world champion Badou Jack and Alvarez was in talks of a fight for the WBC cruiserweight title next.
“We are currently in discussion with Canelo’s team. I am talking directly to them and of course we represent Badou as a Skill Challenge Promotions athlete. The talks are going very well,” Amer Abdullah, who represents Jack, told BoxingScene.
