IBF, WBC, and WBO featherweight boxing champion Amanda Serrano is set to return in 2023.

The 24-year-old Puerto Rican is scheduled to face WBA champion Erika Cruz in an undisputed title bout on February 4. The fight will headline a card at Hulu Theater in New York City.

The matchup was first reported by ESPN’s Mike Rothstein.

If Serrano defeats WBA champion Cruz she would become historic as the first Puerto Rican undisputed champion– male or female. It would also be the first time the seven-division titleholder would be an undisputed champion in a division.

Cruz won the WBA belt in April, 2021, after defeating Jelena Mrdjenovich by technical decision, and so far defended the belt twice.

Amanda Serrano fought historic fight against Katie Taylor

The  34-year-old last fought in September, when she defeated Sarah Mahfoud to win the IBF featherweight belt.

However, her biggest fight of 2022 was by far the undisputed lightweight title bout against Katie Taylor on April 20, which was the first-ever women’s boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden.

After arguably one of the very best fights in the history of women’s boxing, Taylor stood as the winner by split decision which left the fans, and Amanda Serrano, wanting a rematch.

“We put on a hell of a show”, she said after the instant-classic at MSG.
