Gilbert Burns targeted for UFC main event – against top contender!

Gilbert Burns is set to make his return to the octagon as he takes on fellow grappler Sean Brady in a UFC main event.

The two elite grapplers have verbally agreed to a five-round bout at a UFC Fight Night event on September 7. The welterweight bout was first reported on X by MMABets and have since been confirmed by MMA Fighting and other sites.

Even though both Burns and Brady have verbally agreed to the bout, official contracts are yet to be signed. There is also no confirmed venue for the event.

Burns is ranked No. 6 in the official UFC ranking and is looking to bounce back from consecutive losses against Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. He is 2-2 in 2023-2024 after defeating Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal.

Brady defeated former title contender Kelvin Gastelum via submission in December and has been dealing with an injury since then. He is looking to begin a new win streak after suffering his first career loss to Muhammad in October 2022.
