Daniel Cormier calls Alex Pereira an amateur: ”Very limited skillset”

Alex Pereira is the biggest star of the UFC right now.
The former GLORY kickboxing champion has achieved more than most thought was ever possible during his three years in the UFC. Despite the success, some critics, including former two-division champion and UFC commentator Daniel Cormier, still claim that Pereira’ lack of grappling skills makes him an incomplete fighter.
“On Saturday, it seemed like we saw the best Pereira. But did we? We saw a great Pereira doing the thing that he does so well. But he’s an amateur. So, he’s going to get even better,” Cormier said during the latest episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy.
”So, now you got a guy that’s a world champ already, with a very limited skillset that every new skill he picks up, is going to just add to his toolbox. Like how scary is it? When we truly, the idea of what we get when Alex Pereira is complete because, right now, as I said, he just won his 10th fight. He only has 12 mixed martial arts fights in total.”

Alex Pereira is one the pound-for-pound best fighters in the UFC. He’s also a huge international star despite not speaking English, which is very unusual in the UFC.
The Brazilian is the ninth fighter in UFC history to become champion in two different weight divisions. He’s also the first to become champion in both the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
