Cecilie Bolander and Lucie Pudilova just clashed in the bantamweight title fight at OKTAGON 65.
Undefeated Slovakian star Lucia Szabová had to withdraw due to illness and Bolander got a second shot at Pudilova after their razor-close fight earlier this year.
The Norwegian looked great from the start. Pudilova threw hands from a distance but Bolander landed the heavier shots and connected with a heavy combination to a takedown by the end of the round.
Pudilova stepped on the gas pedal in the second round and landed a barrage of straight punches that bloodied the nose of her opponent. The third round was very competetive. Pudilova was busier but the Norwegian seemed to land the heavier shots.
In the fourth round the two bantamweights showed proof of their toughness. Both found success on the feet as they continued the high-paced striking match.
Bolander gave it all in the final round. She dug deep and was the most aggressive of the two. The Norwegian was relentless and landed the heavier shots during the last five minutes.
After the final bell, OKTAGON MMA had a new bantamweight champion in Cecilie Bolander as the judges gave her the win with 48-47, 47-48 and 48-47 on the scorecards.
”I hope we gave you entertainment. I really appriciate OKTAGON to take me in. I’m forever grateful. I love this sport with all my heart. It’s a really fucking hard sport,” an emotional Bolander said in the cage.
