OKTAGON MMA, one of the fastest-growing promotions in Europe, recently announced a couple of additions to its upcoming OKTAGON 56 fight card including a women’s flyweight showdown between Aitana Alvarez and Megan Morris.
Alvarez, a Spanish fighter representing Sweden’s Allstars Training Center, has won three bouts in a row and most recently picked up a unanimous decision win against Lucia Apdelgarin at Allstars Fight Night 4 in Stockholm. The 24-year-old has a professional MMA record of 5-5.
As for Morris, she’s considered one of the UK’s most promising female prospects. As a former IMMAF junior World champion and European silver medalist, the 25-year-old has gone 2-2 since turning pro and holds one prior win in OKTAGON MMA against Veronika Smolkova who she submitted with an armbar in her promotional debut.
Aitana Alvarez: “Back in the big leagues”
For Alvarez, this is a long-awaited opportunity to get back into the big leagues of European MMA.
In her second pro bout, she fought for KSW but lost to Sara Luzar Smajic. Now, she’ll get a new chance to establish herself in a top promotion like OKTAGON MMA after having put together a nice winning streak on smaller shows to climb back up.
“You can’t imagine how much I have been dreaming about being back in the big leagues,” Aitana Alvarez says following the fight announcement. “Nothing more, nothing less than eight fights to earn the opportunity again. This time we’re not going home without the gold.”
