On September 17, boxing superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin will fight for the third time. The anticipated bout is expected to take place inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the very same venue as the two previous battles.
Promoter Eddie Hearn is more than thrilled about the super fight.
“The Canelo vs. GGG trilogy is the biggest fight in boxing and I am delighted to get this made for September 17,” Hearn recently said. “These are two men that bitterly dislike each other and want to end this incredible series with a blistering KO. I truly believe this will be the most thrilling fight between these two great champions and it will be fireworks from the first bell to the last man standing.”
After the recent loss to light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol, Canelo will step down to super middleweight to defend his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles against “GGG”. The rivalry between the two is considered to be one of the absolute biggest in the sport of boxing.
Canelo and Golovkin first fougth in 2017 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A fight that ended in a controversial draw. An immediate rematch was booked, and the following year the Mexican defeated “GGG” by way of majority decision.
