UFC boss Dana White recently announced a new fight for UFC 300 as former champions Cody Garbrandt and Deiveson Figueiredo are set to clash at the milestone event in Las Vegas.
Garbrandt, a former bantamweight champion, is looking to get back into the rankings. He’s won two fights in a row, most recently a first-round knockout against Brian Kelleher, and will now get his shot against the No. 8 ranked Figueiredo.

Figueiredo, a two-time flyweight champion, made bantamweight his new home after losing the flyweight strap for the second time to his rival Brandon Moreno, who he had just fought four times in a row in a series of epic championship bouts. Figueiredo was pitted against top-10-ranked Rob Font and won a clear-cut unanimous decision to earn his spot in the rankings at 135.
Garbrandt was actually supposed to challenge for Figueiredo’s then-held flyweight belt at UFC 255 in November 2020 as he was moving down in weight. However, the previously scheduled title fight never materialized as “No Live” pulled out due to illness and was replaced by Alex Perez. Garbrandt would later lose his lone flyweight bout by knockout against top contender Kai Kara-France
