Former FCR and OKTAGON bantamweight champion Felipe Lima has his mind set on adding the UFC belt to his collection.
“That’s a hundred percent. That’s a fact,” Lima told Swedish MMA journalist and Frontkick contributor Tony Nguyen.
The Swedish-Brazilian bantamweight even revealed a timeline for reaching his goal.
“It can take four years or five years but I will get there,” Lima said.
Felipe Lima wants ranked opponent next
The 26-year-old made his short notice UFC debut at featherweight against the tough Muhammad Naimov at the first UFC card in Saudi Arabia. Lima, who usually competes in bantamweight, dug deep and won the fight via an impressive third-round submission. With the win he extended his winning streak to 13 straight.
“From now on we’re going to fight at bantamweight. We are going down to bantamweight, but in the future, yeah,” Lima said about fighting more at featherweight later on in his career.
Felipe Lima was supposed to make his second UFC appearance in Paris in September, but was forced to pull out due to an injured back. Now he aims to fight in the next couple of months.
“Hopefully in December or January. We train hard to get ready and wait for the UFC to call,” Lima said. “I want to fight someone that is ranked. Top 15. That would help me go to the top faster.”
