UFC boss CONFIRMS Conor McGregor’s next fight – set to coach TUF against top-ranked contender!

UFC superstar Conor McGregor will fight No. 5 ranked lightweight contender Michael Chandler in his octagon return. But first, they’ll be coaching against each other in the upcoming season of the promotion’s reality series ”The Ultimate Fighter”.

That’s according to UFC president Dana White, who just announced the news in a special live stream across UFC’s social media platforms.

The Ultimate Fighter 31 premiers on Tuesday May 30th. McGregor and Chandler will then fight at a pay-per-view event later this year, with date and venue yet to be determined.

Conor McGregor has lost two fights in a row

This will be the second time Conor McGregor coaches ”The Ultimate Fighter”. His first time appearing in the show was when he coached a European team against an American team led by UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber in the 22nd season back in 2015.

McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, is currently on a two-fight losing skid with both losses coming to former interim champ Dustin Poirier. Prior to that, ”The Notorious” finished veteran Donald ”Cowboy” Cerrone in just 40 seconds.

In the most recent Poirier fight, McGregor broke his leg and has since been focusing on his rehab. He also quietly left the USADA drug testing pool and will therefor have to be re-enrolled and pass two random drug tests before he’s eligable to compete again in the UFC.

His opponent Michael Chandler, a former Bellator champion and UFC title contender, is coming off a decision loss to Poirier in one of the greatest fights of 2022. In the fight before that, he scored a ”Knockout of the Year” contender when he floored fan-favorite Tony Ferguson with a perfectly-timed front kick to the face.
