Cornelia Holm talks ’euphoric’ PFL debut and possible next opponent: ”Likely to be matched”

Swedish MMA fighter Cornelia ”Conny Future” Holm started 2023 in the best possible way as she stood victorious in her PFL debut on March 24.

Holm took on the tough Marta Waliczek, and after three competetive rounds of action, she stood as the winner via split decision.

Recently visiting Sweden’s leading fight podcast, Käftsmällspodden, ”Conny” talks about the PFL debut and what lies ahead.

”It felt amazing. I’ve always looked for that special feeling after a win. After earlier fights, that feeling has been relief. It’s a bit boring to feel relieved after a fight. You want to feel euphoria, and I felt that for the first time in a long time,” Holm said.

Ahead of her PFL debut, the Gothenburg fighter made a big change in her training.

”I finally realized the importance of cardio. I always knew it, I’m smart but stupid at the same time,” Holm said. ”Cardio makes all the difference, and that’s the main thing I take with me from this fight.”

”You get confidence from training. If you train hard and do everything right you’ll get confident. The foundation is cardio.”

Cornelia Holm might face PFL’s rising star

While many fighters feel the hectic tournament schedule of PFL is way too taxing, the Swedish fighter feels like the tournament format fits her perfectly.

”It reminds me of how I competed in wrestling and IMMAF. It’s a lot of fun and feels more motivating,” Holm said. ”When you fight a regular pro fight you never know what it will lead to. You fight and that’s it.”

”Here in the PFL, it’s so obvious where you get [with a win]. Now I won that fight, okay then I will fight in the semifinals. If I win that one, then it’s the finals. The goal is more obvious, and I like that.”

Cornelia Holm’s next fight is still a few months away, and even if she doesn’t know who she will fight next, Holm has a feeling it might be undefeated stoppage machine Dakota Ditcheva who’s one of the rising European stars in PFL.

”My manager is pretty sure it will be their big star, because our records are a bit more similar,” Holm said. ”We are likely to be matched.”
