”I’ll knock you out way before you get to stab me”

Ahead of the heated middleweight title clash on Saturday’s UFC 297, there has been plenty of harsh words between champion Sean Strickland and challenger Dricus du Plessis.

Strickland went as far as threatening to stab the challenger if he continued talking about his past.

”When this whole thing occurred where he said, ‘If you do this again.’ He said he’d kill me,” du Plessis said at a recent press conference.

”He didn’t say stab me. When he said kill, I said, ‘OK, he’s probably going to shoot me then.’ But when I saw a knife I said, ‘No, that’s not going to work. You won’t touch me with that knife. I’ll knock you out way before you get to stab me'”.

Dricus du Plessis scared that Strickland will self-sabotage the fight

The South African middleweight expressed concerns that Sean Strickland self-sabotage the fight to get out of it before Saturday. However, he claimed to be focused on trading actual jabs in the cage instead of verbal jabs at the press conference.

”I’m here to be the middleweight champion of the world. My focus is on fighting and not making jokes or getting the crowd to laugh. That’s not why I’m here. I already won that battle. I won. Right now the battle is the one coming Saturday night.”
