Dustin Porier predicts McGregor vs. Chandler: ”Just too hittable”

As a guy who defeated both Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, top ranked UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has a pretty good idea of how the fight between the two powerful fighters will play out.

“I think if Conor comes back with the same timing and speed that he had before the injury — if he comes back to that, he’s going to stop Chandler. Chandler’s very hittable,” Poirier recently told Weighing In.

McGregor’s reach will also be a huge factor according to ”The Diamond”.

”He uses his length and speed and timing really well to close that distance. Chandler’s a guy who needs explosive movements to get in and out. If Conor’s timing’s the same, I think he hurts Chandler,” Poirier said.

”He’s just too hittable”

Even though he admits that Chandler is tough, Dustin Porier thinks the Irishman’s superior striking will make a huge difference.

”It’s gonna be a five-round fight, Conor doesn’t fight co-mains or three-round fights. So, if Chandler can get in there, get some blood in his legs, wrestle hard for the first few rounds, maybe it goes different. But if Conor has any similarity to who he used to be before the injury and before the layoff, I think he stops Chandler. He’s just too hittable. But he is more durable than I thought he’d be.”

McGregor vs. Chandler could set a new PPV-record

Recently appearing at The MMA Hour, Michael Chandler believed the pay-per-view buys for the upcoming fight could reach an all time high for the UFC.

“If you look at the numbers, I think two million,  it’s not just a possibility, I think it’s very achievable and very attainable,” Chandler claimed.

The promotion has only reached 2 million PPV buys once, and that was back in 2018 when Conor McGregor clashed with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. That fight sold 2.4 million PPV’s.
