After being released from the UFC, the always happy ”Smilin” Sam Alvey is looking for a new career in martial arts. Talking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, the Wisconsin-born middleweight opened up more about his plans to fight Jake Paul.

”I like to joke that I haven’t won in a while, which is the kind of guys he likes to fight, so that makes sense. I’m the same size as him, which will be a little different for him, he tends to like fighting people that are smaller than him, so he’ll have to make a little exception for that,” Alvey said.

The former UFC middleweight claimed that he’s been reaching out to Showtime, and believed that there is a chance that him and YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul actually would square off in the ring in the future. Even though Smilin’ Sam never competed in boxing, he has a 7-1 professional kickboxing record.

”I am a striker. So it might be the way he sees himself fighting next. I think it makes sense. There’s a chance,” Alvey said.

Sam Alvey: ”I actually almost broke his jaw”

Visiting The MMA Hour, Sam Alvey also revealed that he met the Paul-brothers for a sparring session some years ago. According to the former UFC middleweight, Jake would not step into the ring after he saw his older brother getting outboxed and hurt badly.

”I actually almost broke his jaw in the sparring session. I was doing the best I could to carry him, to just be a training partner for him, throw some. And he just kept getting hit. And at one point he kind of fell back, ‘I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!’ But I was supposed to spar his brother too, Jake,” Alvey said.

”Logan seemed like a good dude. I wasn’t crazy about Jake. He was a douche. He was. I’m smiling Sam, I’m not supposed to be saying that, he was, he was a douche.”
