Cris Cyborg turns to boxing – professional debut next month

Former UFC featherweight champion, and reigning Bellator featherweight champion, Cris Cyborg will make her professional boxing debut in September. She announced the news while visiting The MMA Hour yesterday.
”I’m going to do my first boxing fight and it’s going to be on September 25,” Cyborg said. ”It’s going to be in Brazil, in my city. I’m super excited.”
Professional boxing has been a long-time dream for Cyborg, who still wants to compete in MMA.

Cris Cyborg will face experienced Simone Silva
Cris Cyborg will square off against Simone Silva in the main event of a Fight Music Show card and the promotion’s middleweight title will be on the line. The fight will take place at the Athletico Paranaense Arena in Curitiba.
Cyborg has a professional MMA record of 26-2-1, with 20 coming by way of knockout. She last defeated Arlene Blencowe via unanimous decision in April. The Brazilian striker currently rides a six-fight winning streak and is undefeated in Bellator. She defended her Bellator Women’s featherweight title four times.
Her opponent Silva has a professional boxing record of 17-21, with six KO-wins. However, she has lost eight straight fights with her last win coming back in 2019. Silva has fought four times for world titles.
