After crushing Bryce Mitchell, undefeated Ilia Topuria set for toughest fight to date

Top ranked featherweight Josh Emmett will make the quick turnaround after his tough loss at UFC 284 to face the undefeated rising star Ilia Topuria.

MMA journalist Alvaro Colmenero was the first to report the news of the matchup that will take place at a UFC event on June 17.

So far no venue or location is announced for the event.

A flyweight bout between Jimmy Flick and Alessandro Costa, as well as a women’s flyweight bout between Tereza Bleda and Gabriella Fernandes are also announced for the fight card.

Ilia Topuria has 13 straight wins

No. 9 ranked Ilia Topuria is unbeaten through 13 fights, with recent finishes over Jai Herbert and the hyped and popular Bryce Mitchell at UFC 282 in December.

A victory over the tough and dangerous Emmett could put the Georgian-Spanish featherweight in line for a possible shot at the title.

No. 5 ranked Emmett comes from a loss to Yair Rodriguez in their interim title fight at UFC 284 in February. Before that, the 38-year-old had a five-fight winning streak dating back to 2019.
