Norwegian Ivana Siric Petrovic loses UFC debut on points

Norwegian fighter Ivana Siric Petrovic just made her promotional debut as she clashed with the experienced Luana Carolina in the prelims of UFC on ESPN 48.

After trading on the feet, the Norwegian took the fight to the ground after two minutes into the first round. However, Carolina ended up on top. With one minute left, Siric Petrovic found herself on top.

In the second round, the combatants clinched up against the cage where they stayed most of the round before Siric Petrovic secured a takedown with just seconds to go.

In the third round, Carolina took the fight to the ground and landed good ground-and-pound. Siric Petrovic ended the round looking for a submission.

After the final bell, Carolina stood as the winner with 29-28 on the judges’ scorecards.

Ivana Siric Petrovic is 6-1

The loss was the career-first for Ivana Siric Petrovic.

She made her professional MMA debut at Battle Arena 62 back in July 2021 and defeated Joanne Doyle via a second-round TKO. Since then she won five more fights, four of them via stoppage, before inking a deal with the world’s leading MMA promotion.

Luana Carolina is now 4-3 in the UFC as she snapped a two-fight losing skid.
