Confident Jack Shore talks Makwan Amirkhan: ”Struggles when it comes to fighting top level guys!”

Welshman Jack Shore is set to take on Finland’s own featherweight Makwan Amirkhani in the featured prelim of this week’s UFC 286 card in London.

The hyped Shore was undefeated when he made his UFC debut, and pulled off five straight wins in bantamweight before suffering his first career loss in July 2022.

When he returns against veteran Amirkhani, in his first fight UFC featherweight bout, he intends to re-establish himself as a top fighter.

”Full credit to him, he’s been in there with some of the best. Arnold (Allen), Shane Burgos, Lerone Murphy, (Edson) Barboza. He’s been in there with some real world class guys,” Shore said on the MMA Hour. ”But as good as his wrestling and grappling is, he kind of struggles when it comes to fighting those top level guys.”

”I do believe despite the loss, I’m one of the best guys in the world. I know I got to prove it now in the new weight. I got to re-establish myself and I think by putting on a good performance against someone like Makwan, who’s been in there with the top guys, kind of puts me straight in the mix.”

Makwan Amirkhani is a veteran of the game

UFC veteran Makwan Amirkhani made his promotional debut back in 2015, with a massive first-round KO, but had a tough time in the promotion during the past few years.

He currently has two wins in his last seven fights, and comes from a second-round TKO against Jonathan Pearce back in July last year. His UFC record is 7-6.

Jack Shore is 5-1 in the UFC and has a pro MMA record of 16-1.
