Manager provides update on Guram Kutateladze following UFC 283 withdrawal

Swedish-Georgian powerhouse Guram Kutateladze was scheduled to face Thiago Moises in his third octagon appearance at UFC 283.

However, last week, the ”Georgian Viking” was forced to pull out of his highly anticipated return due to a staph infection.

Speaking exclusively to Frontkick’s Ashah Tafari, manager Majdi Shammas gives an update on his fighters health and current status.

”It’s a staph infection that didn’t heal, he didn’t respond well to the antibiotics he took. So they gave him new antibiotics here in Sweden and we are doing new blood tests to see if the infection is still there. He has an inflammation, as well, in the elbow,” Shammas said.

Guram Kutateladze will be back as soon as he’s healthy

Guram Kutateladze last competed in June 2022, when he stood toe to toe with the tough Damir Ismagulov for three rounds in Austin, Texas.

According to his manager, we will see the 31-year-old lightweight back in the octagon sooner rather than later.

”So as soon as he is healthy he’s going to start training directly, because he was in amazing shape before this. And then we’re just going to get back on the horse again directly. We are not going to wait,” Shammas told Frontkick.
