Nate Diaz’s representative releases statement: ”Self-defense”

Representatives for Nate Diaz have now responded to the arrest warrant issued by the New Orleans Police after he was involved in an altercation in New Orleans this past weekend.

Diaz’s representative Zach Rosenfield said the following in a statement sent to MMA Fighting.

“Nate’s attorney Walter Becker can confirm that Nate has received word of the arrest warrant and Becker has been in contact with court authorities in New Orleans.”

“Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense. No further comment will be made at this time.”

There is no word yet when the MMA star will turn himself in to New Orleans Police based on the arrest warrant.

Nate Diaz charged of second-degree battery

Nate Diaz was involved in a physical altercation Friday in New Orleans that was captured on video. In the video that went viral, the MMA star was seen choking a man named Rodney Petersen unconscious and dropping him on the street. Petersen later showed off an alleged head injury in a video.

If found guilty to the charges of second-degree battery, Nate Diaz could face up to eight years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine.
