Swedish-Brazilian prospect Felipe Lima’s gut feeling was right when he predicted he would be a part of the UFC Paris card on September 28.
It was just revealed that ”Jungle Boy” will take on French MMA veteran Taylor Lapilus in a three-round bantamweight bout.
With a 20-4 record, 2-1 in the UFC, the 32-year-old Lapilus is a formidable opponent for anyone in the stacked 135-lbs division. In his last fight, he defeated Cody Stamann via unanimous decision.
Felipe Lima: ”They have some bantamweights there”
Lima made his short-notice UFC debut at UFC Saudi Arabia on June 22. He submitted the tough Muhammad Naimov in a featherweight bout, and got a $50.000 post-fight bonus for his impressive performance.
Recently visiting Sweden’s leading podcast about fighting, Käftsmällspodden, the bantamweight prospect expressed his wish to fight in France in September.
“I haven’t been in Paris so it would be amazing to fight there. We will see if we get a shot,” Lima said. ”I am almost 100% sure they will give us Paris. They have some bantamweights there. Good names.”
UFC Paris will take place on September 28 at Accor Arena. The event will mark the promotion’s third visit to the French capital. A five-round lightweight bout between Benoît Saint Denis and Renato Moicano is scheduled to take place on the main card.
