British pro boxer and Commonwealth champion Ryan Farrag (23-5) is back on track for another big fight.

On March 15, he will return to his hometown of Liverpool to face undefeated rising star Jack Turner (10-0). The fight will go down at the city’s largest and most prestigious venue, M&S Bank Arena, on a card stacked with British talent.

Frontkick catches up with Farrag at Hammarby Boxing’s gym in Stockholm, Sweden’s top boxing club. The 36-year-old trains there daily before returning to the UK to continue his camp.

”Jack Turner, he called me out after his last fight. I obliged and now we’re going to get it on,” Farrag tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview.

”He’s a lot younger than me, he’s like 14 years younger than me. Like 22 to years old. I met Jack a few years ago when I was in Spain and he was still an amateur. A very good amateur who won a lot of titles. Now he’s professional and won ten fights, nine by knockout, so he carries power. It’s going to be an exciting fight for boxing fans.”

Ryan Farrag: ”I think bigger opportunities will come”

Back in 2015, Ryan Farrag claimed the vacant European bantamweight title with a ninth-round knockout victory. The title win was one of the highlights of his long career, but he hopes that a win against the promising and undefeated Turner will get him an even bigger fight next.

”Two fights ago I won the Commonwealth title so I was hoping for a step up then, but boxing doesn’t always work the way you want it to. I think that this fight, since he’s 10-0 with nine knockouts and a young up-and-coming prospect, if I go in there and do a good job I think bigger opportunities will come.”

”There’s a couple of ways we can go, but business on March 15, that’s all that’s on my mind.”

The Liverpool card is headlined by local hero and WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball who makes his second title defence against former world champion TJ Doheny. The Liverpool crowd will also see British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion Andrew Cain going up against the European champion Charlie Edwards.

”It’s a lot of local talents on the card,” Ryan Farrag says. ”A lot of fifty-fifty fights. It’s the biggest arena we have in Liverpool so it’s a pretty big show. World title headline and a stacked undercard. It’s been a while since I took part in a show like this so I’m excited.”
