European MMA star Shem Rock is definitely in a interesting place in his career right now.

After cementing his position as one of the brightest shining stars in European MMA his contract is nearing its end, setting the stage for free agency and a potentially game-changing next move.

At this past Saturday’s OKTAGON event, Rock took on the No. 6 ranked Attila Korkmaz in a dangerous short notice fight in Münich. Despite the risks, he showcased his grit and determination and won the fight via a split decision.

”I felt like I was in control from start to finish and never in any danger. I won all three rounds, but I’m in Germany fighting a German so I’m not suprised it was a split decision,” Shem Rock tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview.

”Ondrej Novotny, the boss, said I don’t deserve to fight for the title after a split decision win. But when Ronny Paradeiser won a split decision against Korkmaz, which was a robbery as he got punched around, it was ’wow, what a performance!’.

”I’m the best in the division, there’s no question”

After Saturday’s fight, Shem Rock is full of confidence and believes he’s ready to dethrone lightweight champion Losene Keita. The two faced off in the cage immediately after the bout, setting the stage for a potential high-profile showdown.

”I beat a 25 fight professional veteran on six days notice after going through three opponents and I did it quite comfortably. Korkmaz is ranked at No. 6 in the promotion. The champ has ran to featherweight and the former champ has ran to welterweight. I’m the best in the division, there’s no question about that, pal.”

”Losene and me got in the cage, like Max Coga got in the cage, but refused to fight me. I don’t know what’s the deal with fighters doing that to me. Maybe I’m scary.”

Quick turnaround for Shem Rock?

In just a few of months, Shem Rock will be the most sought after fighter on the European market as his contract with OKTAGON runs out.

However, in an ideal world he would get a quick turnaround for a fight at the massive summer event on June 14 at the Eden stadium.

”As of right now technically I’m still with OKTAGON. I’ve got a few months left and I would have loved to get a quick turnaround and fight on Eden to be honest. But all this stuff is a job for Ondrej, Pavol Neruda and my manager Graham Boylan and Paul Rimmer my coach. Any negotiations I leave up to them, so let’s see what the future holds next for the Shem show.”
