UFC veteran Viviane Pereira aims for gold at Superior Challenge 29!
Publicerat

Viviane Pereira is ready for Superior Challenge 29, where the former UFC fighter will travel from Brazil to challenge Aitana Alvarez for the bantamweight belt.
”Sucuri” Pereira comes to Sweden with clear goals: to win the title and give the Swedish fans an unforgettable fight!
When Viviane Pereira started her martial arts career, she never dreamed that her kung fu training would one day lead to MMA and that it would be her ticket to the world. For her, it all started as a way to get away from the monotony of everyday life.
– I started practicing kung fu when I was 13 years old, but it was not to compete, but to get away from the routine of home and school, Pereira tells Frontkick.
Before she turned 20, Viviane Pereira had already laid the foundation for what would become an impressive career.
In May 2013, she stepped into the cage for the first time and won her MMA debut by decision, and before the year was out, she had added two more wins to her record, both by second-round knockout.
This was during a time when women’s place in MMA was far from a given, but there was one pioneer in the sport that Viviane Pereira could look up to.
– When I started martial arts, I was inspired by Cris Cyborg because of her strength and aggressiveness. I have always thought she is amazing and I aspire to be like her.
– But the most important person has been myself. I always strive to evolve, and to give myself and my family a better life.

From UFC to Superior Challenge
It would take Viviane Pereira just over three years to rack up a perfect 11-0 record, during which she won the XFC strawweight tournament and became their champion.
She caught the attention of the UFC and made a successful debut at UFC 206 in Toronto, defeating the hometown favorite and former title challenger Valérie Létourneau.
In her four fights in the UFC, Pereira faced three former or future title challengers, two of whom are still competing at the UFC’s highest level: first-ranked strawweight Tatiana Suarez and third-ranked Yan Xiaonan.
– The UFC was an incredible experience, says Viviane Pereira. I was very young and I know I could still be competing there. Today,
– I have the maturity to understand that. There were some tough fights that ended in a 2-2 result, but for me it was positive. One day I might get there again.
– I achieved what all athletes strive for: I reached the highest level, so now I have to follow up this achievement and continue making history!
Superior Challenge 29: Aitana Alvarez vs Viviane Pereira
Vivane Pereira’s road back to the UFC may go through Sweden.
After an extended hiatus, ”Sucuri” Pereira made a comeback in 2023 and is now ready to climb back to the top.
She has already racked up two wins in her last three fights, including first round finish against Bellator veteran DeAnna Bennett.
She was then matched against former Bellator champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane in the GFL, a fight that never materialized.
The Brazilian has been at the top of her game and is determined to get there again, but in her way stands a very tough opponent.
Reigning bantamweight champion ”Pitbull” Alvarez has been developing at a rapid pace and will have both height and power on her side, but Pereira says she is looking forward to challenge herself in Sweden.
– I can’t wait to visit Sweden, as I’ve heard it’s a beautiful place. I’m very excited about the opportunity to showcase my skills and bring home the belt.
– I don’t know much about Aitana, but I am sure we will give the Swedish fans a great show. May the one with the strongest will and fighting spirit win!
In addition to the title fight between Aitana Alvarez and Viviane Pereira, Superior Challenge 29 will also feature a welterweight (A-class) title fight, with Tome Bokofo confirmed to fight for the belt.
Swedish-Chilean MMA veteran Fernando Flores is also set for the final fight of his career in Stockholm, while Nermin Hajdarpasic will clash with Kevin Munje in the main event.
