Superior Challenge 27 cancelled due to situation involving Viaplay

Superior Challenge 27 is postponed

Superior Challenge 27 was planned to go down in Stockholm nest Saturday, sadly that is no longer the case. Last week it was clear that streaming platform Viaplay would make major cutbacks that would affect Swedish MMA, with Superior Challenge being one of the broadcasts to be scrapped.

Per a press release sent to the media, the event is cancelled and postponed to a future, undecided date.

”It is with great sadness and deep regret that we have to announce the cancellation of Superior Challenge 27, which was scheduled for May 25th. The decision stems from a serious situation involving Viaplay, which has chosen not to broadcast Superior Challenge after 11 years of collaboration. This unexpected development impacts numerous of organizations and events, not just Superior Challenge. For over 11 years, we have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with broadcasts on TV10, TV6, and Viaplay, during which Superior Challenge has set viewership records and rivalled major traditional sports broadcasts.”

”Our top priority now is to provide support to our athletes and find alternative matches for them in other organizations.”

The second time Superior Challenge 27 is pushed back

Unfortunately, this is the second time this year that the event has been postponed.

The event was originally scheduled for April 27th, but was pushed to May 25th.

”The purpose of postponing the event is to ensure the exceptional experience we want to deliver to you, our valued audience. Thus, you can expect northern Europe’s best fight card in many years,” the promotion wrote on social media.

It’s currently not yet known when Superior Challenge 27 will be rescheduled to.
