Swedish heavyweight boxer Otto Wallin is booked for his biggest fight in two years.

On September 30, the Swede will face former unified cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev for the WBA Intercontinental Heavyweight Title. The fight will be twelve rounds and takes place at Regnum Carya Hotel.

The skilled Swedish southpaw had a hard time getting fights that makes sense after giving Tyson Fury all kinds of troubles back in 2019.

”It’s been hard to get good fights,” Wallin recently told SVT Sport. ”I had two good fights on Showtime after the Fury fight, against Travis Kaufmann and Dominic Breazeale. After that I was set to fight Dillian Whyte two years back, but he pulled out on ten days notice. After that there’s been more or less nothing. It’s been tough.”

Otto Wallin faces very tough opponent in Gassiev

In his most recent action, on March 3, Gassiev knocked out previously unbeaten Mike Balogun in the second round.

The 29-year-old has a 3o-1-1 record, with his only loss coming to Oleksandr Usyk.

Gassiev is 4-0 as a heavyweight boxer, since he lost the IBF and WBA cruiserweight championships to Usyk in their title unification back in 2018.

With a win against the dangerous heavyweight, Otto Wallin would cement himself as a top heavyweight contender and put himself in a good position for a title fight.
