UFC 300 main event official, Alex Pereira to headline milestone card

The UFC 300 main event has finally been revealed with light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira set to headline against former champ Jamahal Hill.

Pereira, a former UFC middleweight title holder and two-weight GLORY Kickboxing champ, won the 205 lbs strap as he finished former champion Jiri Prochazka with strikes back in November. Now he’s looking to defend his belt against Hill, who’s coming to prove that he’s the real champion.

Hill became a UFC light heavyweight champion in January 2023 as he defeated Pereira’s coach, former champ Glover Texeira, by unanimous decision to win the vacant title. However, he would later vacate the belt himself due to injury. Now healthy, Hill is ready to pick up where he’s hoping to make it five wins in a row.

Dana White comments on UFC 300 main event, explains why Alex Pereira vs Jamahall Hill was booked to headline

UFC explored multiple options with several different fighters before settling on a Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill light heavyweight title fight for the UFC 300 main event.

According to UFC CEO Dana White, welterweight champion Leon Edwards was ready to headline UFC 300 and said yes to three different opponents. A middleweight title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya was reportedly in the works as well. Due to timing and various moving parts, however, the promotion opted to go with Pereira vs Hill for the UFC 300 main event.
