MMA judge Howie Booth definitely has some explaining to do after UFC 305 in Perth.
After giving a 30-27 scorecard for Tai Tuivasa in the heavyweight fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Booth’s services were not wanted for the rest of the card. He was supposed to judge the UFC 305 co-main event between top ranked flyweights Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg, but was pulled from his duties.
Rozenstruik still got a win after dominating Tuivasa over three rounds, but Booth somehow gave every single round for Tuivasa, which resulted in a weird split decision. The official scorecards showed 29-28, 27-30 and 30-27 after three rounds of action.
”It’s good to check some balances. I think everyone should be held to a high standard,” a UFC representative said at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference about the decision of removing Booth.
Judge Ben Cartlidge eventually replaced Booth in the co-main event.
