Former UFC fighter competing in Netflix reality series ’Physical: 100’

The new Netflix reality show, Physical: 100, has quickly become very popular across the world.

The series features a number of tough challenges, with 100 contestants competing for the cash prize that comes with being the last one standing.

One of the contestants is former K-1 and UFC fighter Yoshihiro Akiyama, perhaps better known as “Sexyama” to fans of combat sports.

Akiyama signed with the UFC back in 2009 and won his debut against Alan Belcher via split decision, despite having a broken orbital. He then suffered four consecutive losses, against household names Chris Leben, Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort, and Jake Shields. before leaving the UFC promotional record of 2-5.

Yoshihiro Akiyama is a decorated judokan

”Sexyama” is a decorated judokan who won the gold medal at the 2001 Asian Judo Championships representing South Korea. The year after he represented Japan and won the gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games.

His latest professional bout took place in March 2022, at ONE Championship, where he defeated Shinya Aoki via TKO.
