This past weekend, the Swedish heavyweight hope Elwin ”Bazooka” Belezika once again proved that he’s one of the most promising amateurs coming out of the country in a long time. The 18-year-old won the National Team tournament GeeBee Turnaus in Finland with two big wins against merited opponents.

Belezika faced two German boxers and was able to win both fights via 5-0 on the scorecards to bag the gold medal.

The tournament was the young heavyweight prospect’s first National Team assignment and he really showed proof that he has what it takes to make it against good international opponents.

“It was so much fun to compete as a senior and to see how boxing is on a elite level. I fought two great fights against two solid boxer’s, and got tested both physically and mentally,” Belezika says.  “I knew that I was the faster boxer in both fights. My plan was to use that to my advantage,”

In a previous interview with Frontkick, the young heavyweight said that he is aiming for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

“Maybe I will go pro after the Olympics in 2028, if I make it there. It could happen earlier too, if the right offer comes and all the pieces come together,” Belezika said. “The feeling of boxing is like nothing else. The adrenaline, the feeling of winning or simply just being in the ring. Boxing makes me feel alive.”
