Freddy Castro Gonzalez, Swedish champion in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, is set to make his MMA debut against Andreas Sundman Forsberg at Superior Academy 1 on September 14 in Uppsala, Sweden.
Castro, nicknamed “Freddy Kreuger”, has made a name for himself as one of Sweden’s top strikers and most exciting standup fighters, winning several high-level pro bouts alongside his championship accolades. He comes from the same unique kickboxing gym as former PFL world champion Sadibou Sy, Vasa Pretorian in Stockholm, and has been living in Pattaya, Thailand fighting for Venum Training Camp for the last year-and-a-half.
In Southeast Asia, Castro has taken his pro striking career to the next level, competing on some of the biggest Muay Thai shows in Thailand as well as major Kun Khmer events in Cambodia.

Castro has been flirting with the idea of getting into MMA for a while, and now he’ll finally be taking the first step as he’s set to make his amateur debut at the inaugural Superior Academy card.
His opponent is representing Flow Martial Arts in the small town of Järna outside Stockholm. Forsberg is coming off a loss to rising star Liam Pitts, and is now looking to get his hand raised as he takes on another big name in Sweden in what will surely be a tough challenge for both fighters.
This is a catchweight with a contracted weight of 63 kg under A class rules. Both these fighters have a lot to prove and are hungry for glory, so this should be a fun one for the fans.
Superior Academy 1 goes down at the Fyrishov Arena on September 14, headlined by a pro heavyweight clash where Swedish boxing champion and OKTAGON MMA vet Nermin Hajdarpasic takes on British finisher Joffie Houlton.
