Swedish Muay Thai fighter Patricia Axling won gold at the European Games in Krakow.

The veteran Swede secured the medal at -57 kg after defeating the 16 year younger Portuguese fighter Matilde Rodrigues via unanimous decision with 30-27 over the judges’ scorecards. The skilled and experienced Swede won all three rounds with 10-9.

Patricia Axling: ”Incredible”

The experienced Patricia Axling already has three World Championship gold medals and three European Championship gold medals to her name.

However, winning gold at the European Games is special to the Swedish striker.

”It’s incredible to win a medal with the rings on it. This is the closest you get to an Olympic Games in my sport,” Axling said in a press release.

The 35-year-old started the games with a very tough bout.

”My first fight in the tournament was the hardest when I faced a Polish fighter,” Axling claimed.

Swedish Muay Thai fighter Linus Bylander was also successful in the games and secured a bronze medal at -67 kg.
