This past Saturday, Swedish heavyweight boxer Otto Wallin won his biggest victory of his career as he defeated the dangerous Murat Gassiev.
According to Wallin, it’s by far the biggest win of his career and it definitely opens up for a shot at the heavyweight world title next.
In a recent Instagram post, the champion shared his thoughts of the emotional moment of winning the WBA Inter-Continental title.
“The feeling of when years of frustration leaves your body. Probably one of the happiest moments of my life and I got to share it with the people closest to me,”
Prior to Saturday’s fight, Gassiev had only lost to current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a cruiserweight title bout back in 2018, and was a big betting favorite.
However, the 32-year-old Swedish southpaw, who had five straight wins leading up to the fight, put on massive peformance as he edged out a split decision win over the Russian heavyweight.
“I went on the road, I was the underdog, and I’m coming home with the victory! I’m so happy and proud that I won yesterday and my team and I want to thank everybody that’s supporting me. It truly means everything,” Wallin said in an Instagram post after the win.
