ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently reported that Darren Till is planning to return against Dricus Du Plessis later this year. However, in an interview with ESPN, the Liverpool-born middleweight opened up about another fight that he really wants further down the line.
“One of my big goals, at the end of all this, is to have fought Izzy,” Till said. “Not for the title, if he’s got the title at the time, but he’s mentioned me more than I’ve mentioned him. I think in his head it’s that striking mentality. I think he wants to find out – I mean obviously point present, yeah, he’s a better striker.”
“I know he respects my striking massively, and I respect his striking,” Till said.
A few years back, Adesanya gave massive credit to the Brit’s striking skills and admitted that he was a big fan of his personality as well.
“I love striking, and I love the way he strikes,” Adesanya said. “Very basic muay Thai, and I mean that with all respect, but also his clinch game and his elbow game is advanced, but he sticks to his basic muay Thai. His left kick, his left straight, the way he curves his left. Beautiful to watch and yeah I take inspiration from a guy like that just in a way who he is.”
