Saturday’s UFC event in Singapore features a pivotal women’s flyweight bout between No. 3 ranked Erin Blanchfield and No. 4 ranked former title challenger Taila Santos.
The winner of the highly anticipated fight will put herself in a good position to face the winner of the upcoming title bout between flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and former champ Valentina Shevchonko in September.
“I think having the Taila Santos fight is perfect, she’s another super tough opponent, and you know, I’m going to end up fighting all these girls anyway, wheter it’s for a title or not, so I might just get in now and gain that experience,” Blanchfield recently told ESPN.
Erin Blanchfield is undefeated in the UFC
With five wins in the UFC, the three latest by submission, Blanchfield is confident that she’s better in all aspects of fighting.
Ahead of the fight, the 24-year old American is sure she got what it takes to defeat the former title challenger from Brazil.
“I feel like she’s pretty well-rounded. I don’t feel like she’s particularly weak anywhere, but she’s not particularly amazing anywhere.”
“So I feel like I can show that my game all around is better.”
