Top ranked UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns is scheduled to compete on his home turf at UFC 283 in Brazil.
According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, “Durinho” and No. 12 ranked veteran Neil Magny are close to agreeing on a deal to fight at the card that takes place in Rio de Janeiro on January 21.

The 36-year-old Gilbert Burns comes from a decision loss to Khamzat Chimaev in one of the absolute wildest and best fights of the year.
The back-and-forth battle took place in April and the Brazilian has not competed since. Burns has been looking for a fight with Jorge Masvidal, and was also agreeing on Twitter with Chimaev to have a rematch in middleweight. However, now it looks like he’ll fight Magny instead.
Neil Magny comes from a submission victory over Daniel Rodriguez in November. With the victory, he passed Georges St-Pierre for the most wins in UFC welterweight history.
